GEI-DŌ participates in the collective exhibition
«HANAMI-Sustainable imagination. Sculpture between Nature and Artifice»
8-10 April 2022, Botanical Garden Museum of Rome
curated and organized by Alessandra Maria Porfidia
The site-sensitive sculpture GEI-DŌ participates in the collective exhibition «HANAMI-Imagination sustainable. Sculpture between Nature and Artifice», curated and organized by Alessandra Maria Porfidia, coordinator of the sculpture courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
34 international artists to carry out, from 8 to 10 April 2022, at the Botanical Garden Museum of Rome, the second edition of the study and collaboration project between the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome, the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and the Japanese Cultural Institute, in an exhibition that takes us into a feeling and into nature, between awakening and the transience of time, transformation of matter and its energy.
In this context, GEI-DŌ intends to investigate the essence of Japanese art with the help of Western aesthetics. Asymmetry and irregularity of nature opposite to the classical inspiration on proportion, balance, harmony and symmetry. Hence the stone and iron, in a strong ethical and spiritual symbolism, in the contemplation of one of the concepts that most deeply crosses Japanese thought, that of the impermanence of existence.
